Cat-Saving Day

I scooped you up, saved you
from your furry nightmares;
you meowed for me to carry you
across the carpet sea,
rocky with wooden blocks and
crochet monsters; you little thing,
you belong with the armchair,
with soft marshmallow hugs
and clouds of vanilla–you belong
with a gentle embrace
under the fuzzy afternoon sun

    I had to give up my dog because the place I am getting doesn’t take pets. If I decide to go with a different place, due to the original taking too long and me getting tired of living out of hotels cooking with a microwave, I will get a little fuzzy cat. Cats calm me and I had two when I was married for nearly the length of our marriage.

    Your poem makes me want to get another cat.

    Keep writing!
